When she was first introduced to yoga, Jessica felt an immediate and personal connection to the philosophical and spiritual aspects of the eight limbs of yoga. Practicing yoga develops an awareness of self, creates space for us to examine our connection to the universe, and to recognize and appreciate our role in the energetic flow of the life force. Ayurveda is the “sister science” of yoga, and is a 5000 year old holistic medicine practice from India which greatly benefits any individual. Jessica’s ayurveda yoga classes are a fun and multi-layered approach to overall mind-body-spirit health and wellness. Ayurveda Yoga Class Description: Ayurveda is based on the principal that all humans are made up of a unique composition of three doshas: vata, pitta and kapha. Imbalances in the doshas create dis-ease within the body, mind and spirit. Ayurveda aims to bring harmony and balance back to both the subtle and physical bodies, and ayurveda yoga classes are designed to use specific yoga postures to achieve that purpose. Classes rotate each week between vata, pitta, kapha, and tri-doshic yoga classes. Vata yoga classes are soft flow, and emphasize grounding and turning inward through restorative-style poses. Pitta classes focus on decreasing heat and fire in the body, and finding balance between the elements. Kapha classes are a high energy, vinyasa flow, and tri-doshic classes offer poses and flows which are beneficial for all three doshas. Come find out why this holistic approach to health has been around for 5000 years, as we explore our role in the energetic connection of the universe through movement and breath!
